Terms and Conditions

Pricing:

Where possible prices on the website are fixed, however if we encounter any issues (bird’s nest, broken fire rope) there may be further charges, you will be consulted before any work is undertaken and only on agreement will I proceed.

Should I for any reason not be able to complete the sweep, a call out fee may be applicable. It is the responsibility of the customer to inform me of any issues that they may be aware of prior to my arrival. I will ask as many questions as possible to avoid this happening.

Payment:

Payment is due on the day of the sweep unless other arrangements have been made prior.

Payments can either be made by cash or by BACS which details will be provided to you on completion of the sweep and any other services.

A £40 call out charge will be applied for servicing of your appliance which do not require a sweep.

Cancellations:

I understand that there may be times where a cancellation is unavoidable, however I ask that you give me as much notice as possible. I give each of my customers time slots and if I have not been informed that you cannot make the appointment, I may not be able to offer the slot to another customer, therefore incurring a loss of income. If this is the case I may charge up to 100% of the cost of the sweep.

Obstructions or bird’s nests:

It is illegal for a bird’s nest to be removed between April and September during the nesting season in accordance with the The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 https://www.rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wildlife/advice/wildlife-and-the-law/wildlife-and-countryside-act/  If a bird’s nest is found during these months I will arrange to come back at a later date, a call out charge may be incurred which can be added to the account when I return to remove the nest or paid on the day.

Problems that may occur:

While great care is taken to avoid damage to property, responsibility cannot be held by myself for poorly maintained Chimney stacks, loose or broken chimney pots, cowls, fireplaces or any other part of your installation. As much information prior to sweep would be useful such as last sweep, age of any installation or any other known problems. It is also useful to know who installed the open fire/ Stove prior to sweeping.

Sometimes installations have been undertaken by someone who is not legally qualified to install and therefore could throw up various issues. I will do my best to advise you of rectifications that can be made, however it is not always possible for me to sweep if no access has been made.

I do not take responsibility for any issues that occur during the sweep that had not been made aware of to me or which are not obvious at the time of the sweep. Should damage occur advice will be given where possible on how this could be rectified.

It is advised that your chimney is swept at the very least once a year depending on usage, build up of creosote or tar can severely damage your liner or chimney if it is not swept regularly. As much care as possible will be taken to remove this.

Certificate of sweep:

On completion of sweep you will be issued with a certificate, you may require this should your insurance company ask for it.

The certificate does not guarantee your chimney is safe for use, it tells the insurance company that a sweep has been carried out and as much soot/ debris has been removed as possible. It does not tell you the integrity of your chimney.

Miscellaneous:

It is the responsibility of the customer to remove any items in the area before I  sweep, although I take great care for my customers property, I do not take responsibility for any damage. Plastic  sheeting will be used to protect the surrounding areas and sweep sheets will be used to cover the fireplace.

Any soot collected from the sweep will be left with the customer for disposal.
